Support for Practice Owners Leading Therapy Teams

Guidance for therapists responsible for team leadership, service quality, and building sustainable allied health practices.

Leading an Allied Health Practice

Running an allied health practice brings a different set of challenges to clinical work alone.

As a business owner, you are responsible not only for the quality of therapy delivered, but also for the systems, structure, and leadership that support your team and your clients.

Many practice owners reach a stage where they need space to think more strategically about their service — from team development and clinical standards to sustainable business operations.

This pathway is designed to support therapists who are leading teams, managing services, and making complex leadership decisions.

Who This Pathway Is For

This pathway is designed for occupational therapists who are running or leading a practice.

You may be:

Managing a team of therapists or therapy assistants

Navigating leadership and team development

Balancing clinical quality with business responsibilities

Making decisions about service growth or structure

Looking for support from someone who understands the realities of practice ownership

Leading a service can be rewarding, but it can also be isolating. Many business owners benefit from having a space where they can step back, reflect, and discuss the bigger picture of their service.

Alyce’s Experience

Before creating The OT Coach Australia, Alyce spent many years building and leading a paediatric occupational therapy service.

In 2017 she established Sensational Start OT, growing it into a multidisciplinary service supporting children and families across Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast of NSW. During this time she led a team of occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and administrative staff while navigating the clinical, operational, and leadership realities of running a practice.

This experience now shapes the way she supports therapists and practice owners. Her work focuses not on generic business advice, but on the real challenges of delivering high-quality therapy services while building sustainable teams and practices.
